The Difference Between Dots And Depth
I faintly remember the beacon of light that was the Empire State Building on the brisk, icy night as we left the gin distillery in Brooklyn. I remember so badly wanting to capture how beautiful the Empire State Building looked across the river with its sparkling white peak clear among a hazy skyline, and not understanding how it kept appearing as just a simple white dot in a black sky on my phone. Some memories of you are like that. I know they had their dimensions, their emotions, their light, but when I revisit them, all I see is a one-dimensional dot in time among a sky full of other memories. Suddenly, the significant becomes less significant with the passing of time, because, after all, the iPhone only captured the dot, not the depth.
