The Novice Soulmate
You introduced yourself to me as you noticed I was alone. You asked me all about my hopes and my fears, and told me all about yours over a cup of coffee in a church cafeteria. You found me later, as I signed up for a women’s group, and handed me the whitest rose I have ever seen with the stem cut off. You said you found it at Publix earlier that morning, and wanted to give it to me because it matched my hair.
What you didn’t know is that I was having one of the toughest days in which I felt supremely alone after making the move from NYC to South Florida. What you didn’t know is that you were one of the only people that’s ever heard those hopes and those fears. What you didn’t know is that rose still lives in the dash of my car and gives me hope everyday on my morning drive.
You gave more to me in those five minutes, than most people have in their entire lives.
